Welcome to the Blackwater Yacht Racing Association website!

Based at the Pelican Point Yacht Club on beautiful Smith Mountain Lake in Southern Virginia, the Blackwater Yacht Racing Association (BYRA) is a non-profit organization made up of members who enjoy sailing and sailboat racing.

Activities include regular spring and fall keelboat races, summer Sunfish races, and sponsored invitational regattas.  Social functions are also scheduled throughout the year.

Visitors are always welcome and are encouraged to attend the 11am pre-race skippers meeting at Pelican Point Yacht Club to get acquainted. 

If you would like to join BYRA and participate in the BYRA races, please contact Loretta Manning, Membership Chairman.  You do not need to own a sailboat to join or participate. 

To learn more about sailboat racing or if you are interested in serving as a crew member on a racing sailboat, come on out. We welcome all participants and at each race there are usually skippers looking for crew members.
